About Me
My name is Mia Clarice Treakle. I'm a certified parenting coach by the Jai Institute for Parenting, founder of The Heart & Science of Parenting Facebook Page, and a mother of two kids who are not only the most valuable treasure I have but also the reason I am here to serve you today. My parenting journey, education, and my international and multicultural experience have enriched my perspective and my capacity to help families anywhere in the world. I am passionate about helping parents discover their unique purpose and role as they unravel their kid’s potential and achieve a more peaceful and fun home environment.
After the birth of my first child, I began to realize just how much influence I can have on society by the way I raise my children. I realized that parents and caregivers have the most significant influence in shaping the kind of adults their children will become. I also realized that developing core values such as empathy and compassion is not only crucial for healthy brain development and the well-being of children and society-at-large but that it is also a time-sensitive task that requires the utmost attention in the early years of life.
Once I realized the true value of parenting, I began reading, researching, and learning about every parental subject and issue I was facing. I wanted to understand the needs of my child and what it takes to ensure his optimal physical, emotional, and spiritual development, and to provide this support to the best of my ability. Little did I know then that this would become my passion and career. I totally believe that the process of creating a peaceful future begins with how we raise our children today.
Of course in my parenting journey I faced many issues and challenges. There were times where I didn’t know what to do or what to say, how to get my kids to cooperate, how to not do all the things I didn’t want to do (like yelling or blaming), or how to model the things I strongly value. There were also times where I questioned everything I was doing and wondered if I was screwing up my kids! And if those challenges were not enough, I had to also navigate my way around raising a multicultural family and living as an expat for most of those years. It took 9 years of parenting and various books, classes, webinars, seminars and coaching for me to finally have an amazing connection with my kids and husband, and also feel empowered and confident that I can continue to help my kids thrive and achieve their highest potential no matter what country / culture / environment we happen to be in.
